Big Names Stack Quarterfinals in Cascais Billabong Pro

Hundreds of surfers arrived in Portugal for the ASP 6-star Cascais Billabong Pro. Some were dreaming of much needed points to improve their 2015 WQS seed, some arrived needing a solid result to qualify for the 2015 WCT and others were just happy to be there warming up for the WCT event next week. And of the hundreds of surfers who arrived with six stars in their eyes only eight surfers remain, including some big names and some names you’ll be hearing more about in the future. You’ve got WCT’ers like Jordy Smith, Michel Bourez, Jadson Andre, Julian Wilson and Jeremy Flores still in the mix, and upstarts like Brazil’s Wiggolly Dantes and Italo Ferreira and the lone WQS Australian Stu Kennedy. Needless to say someone’s going down, and someone’s going to be coming up. Here are the Quarterfinal matchups for when the event picks back up this weekend….
Quarterfinal #1: Wiggolly Dantes vs. Italo Ferreira
Quarterfinal #2: Jadson Andre vs. Jordy Smith
Quarterfinal #3: Stu Kennedy vs. Jeremy Flores
Quarterfinal #4: Julian Wilson vs. Michel Bourez
Highlights from the Rounds of 24 and 16
