Coco Ho Wins 5-Star in Brazil

Current ASP World #12 Coco Ho from the North Shore of Hawaii has taken out the 5-star WQS Prime Oceano Santa Catarina Pro in Florianopolis, Brazil. Coco went up against upstart Australian Keely Andrew in the tricky two- to three-foot surf and literally blew her out of the water from the start. She opened her account with a solid 9.0 and backed it up with a 7.33 leaving Andrew in a combo situation from which she never recovered. The win for Coco couldn’t have come at a better time, since the Hawaiian is sitting 12th on the ASP/WCT rankings and not looking to qualify on that ranking alone. Fortunately, she’s ranked second on the ASP/WQS rankings which solidifies her slot on the 2015 ASP World Championship Tour where she will fight hard to bring a world title back to Hawaii. For winning the Santa Catarina Pro, Coco pockets $8,000 which brings her total prizemoney this year to well over $100,000. Yeah, women’s surfing has come a long way. Stoked for Coco, and best of luck to her next month on Maui for the final women’s WCT event of the season, the Target Women’s Pro at Honolua Bay. Stay tuned on ASPWorldTour.com for all the action.
