Could Hurricane “Lowell” be Lucky Number 7 for So Cal??

By on August 22, 2014

Our seventh named Hurricane of the season, Hurricane Lowell, crept into the Southern California swell window earlier this week with sustained winds in the 45-65 range, and moving slow enough to send Southern facing beaches some tropical storm energy. But that all changed earlier today, with the winds moving up to 75mph, officially making Lowell a bonafide hurricane. Even better news is that the storm track is moving NW at around 3mph, and while it will surely hit colder water in the next day or so, the surf will be heading our way whether we like it or lifeguards do not, and this weekend could be epic. Like we said, maybe this one will be lucky #7! Stay tuned to our sister site for photos from the swell.
