This Day in Skateboarding History: 1965

By on October 15, 2014

The year was 1965. The place, Rome, Italy. The skater … Clint Eastwood. This was a historical moment in skateboarding, but no one’s ever really known about it. No one had any idea Clint Eastwood went skateboarding back before it was cool. Heck, before HE was cool. But he went for it. What’s even stranger about this day in skateboarding history is that who knew anyone ever even skated in Europe in the 1960s? We always thought it was an “American” thing. But little did we know. We know now, though. We know that Clint Eastwood used to be a skater. He wasn’t very good, and never took it to the vert ramp later on when that whole phenom came about, but at least he tried. And to think you never even saw this photo that’s been around for 50 years until now. Stranger things have happened …
