Va Beach Local Michael Dunphy Wins ASP 4-Star Vans ECSC

By on August 25, 2014

The East Coast Surfing Championships is the longest running surfing event in Northern America, and Va Beach local Michael Dunphy has taken it all! Rocking the red jersey in the Men’s Pro final, Dunphy linked section after section in the crumbly one- to three-foot surf at the 52nd annual event this weekend, fighting off both his out of town competitors and those nasty blue crabs that seemed to plague the entire field all week long.

Dunphy, who earned $15,000 on the win, has been competing on the WQS for a few years now will use the momentum from this ASP 4-star rated event to his advantage as he charges the rest of the WQS season in full throttle. Right now Dunphy sits 14th on the qualification series and unless he chokes the rest of the year, there’s a good chance he’ll qualify for the 2015 ASP World Championship Tour. Not a bad way to end the summer. For complete results click here
