Gilmore Wins in Portugal, Eyes World Title #6

By on October 6, 2014

She’s already got five world titles but Australian wonder woman Steph Gilmore is hungry for more. Having been in the Top 5 all year, she’s sure been in the running, but after taking out the Cascais Women’s Pro in Portugal this past weekend she suddenly finds herself in the driver’s seat. But she’s not running away with the title, just yet. She’s only 4,000 points ahead of fellow countrywoman Sally Fitzgibbons, and barely 5,000 points ahead of Tyler Wright. And with one event to go, it’ll all come down to Hawaii where four girls still have a mathematical shot at the 2014 ASP World Title, including Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Tyler Wright and Carissa Moore. Needless to say, it’s going to be an exciting finish.

Current ASP Women’s World Tour Top 5 Rankings after the Cascais Pro in Portugal
1. Stephanie Gilmore, Aus.
2. Sally Fitzgibbons, Aus.
3. Tyler Wright, Aus.
4. Carissa Moore, Haw.
5. Malia Manuel, Haw.
