Surfer Dies at Malibu, “Marie” Claims First Victim

Big waves are the real deal, and as waves from Hurricane Maria picked up Tuesday afternoon it’s been reported that an unidentified surfer lost his life earlier today while surfing First Point at Malibu’s Surfrider Beach in LA County. The surf was picking up and in the six to eight foot range, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and the surfer, a 40-year-old male, was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center. This is the first known death from Hurricane Maria, although it is not known at this time the cause of death it’s still a pretty gnarly deal.
