Skater Stabs Skater … to Prove He’s the Better Skater??

By on September 1, 2014

Skateboarding should be fun. It doesn’t matter who is better than who as long as the skaters are having fun. But things took a turn for the worse in Shasta County this weekend when two skaters arguing about who was better took things not to the skatepark to decide, but literally went in for the kill.

According to the Record Searchlight, the local paper in Redding, CA, “A man allegedly stabbed his cousin after the two argued about who was a better skateboarder, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. Shortly after midnight on Saturday, sheriff’s deputies responded to the reported stabbing at the Lazy Landing Mobile Home Park on near 8600 Shoreline Drive, according to a news release. Robert Schornsten, 21, his cousin Noel Rhodes, 19, and Rhodes’ wife were drinking outside the Rhodes’ home when the two cousins began to argue about who had more skateboarding skills. Schornsten allegedly hit and kicked Rhodes, according to the release. Rhodes was able to hide in his residence and lock his cousin out, and fearing for his and his wife’s safety, grabbed a steak knife for protection. Schornsten was able to enter the home, and he and Rhodes allegedly began to fight. Rhodes allegedly stabbed his cousin in the side and on his back and cut his arm. Rhodes was inside the home, dazed from the fight. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment, but neither suffered life-threatening injuries. Neither man was arrested, but a report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for further review.”

Maybe they will learn their lesson and take it out at the local skatepark instead…..
