Titans of Mavericks Opening Ceremony

No pun intended, but it appears that Big Wave surfing gets BIGGER and BIGGER every year. Not only is it great for the athletes but it’s great for TV. Pro surfing needs more cowbell and big wave surfing could be the ringer. That said, the invitees of the 2015 Mavericks contest, now called “Titans of Mavericks” gathered together for an opening ceremony, and in addition to the ceremony held on the bluff at Half Moon Bay, event organizers held their inaugural dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay to honor the 2015 competitors, community leaders and their dedicated conservation partner Monterey Bay Aquarium. Says Titans of Mavericks, “Having so much history and talent in one room last night was incredible. It was amazing to see such passionate athletes speak last night, like Greg Long, Zach Wormhoudt, Shawn Dollar and Ken “Skindog” Collins to mention. Watching all of our Committee 5 members connect with this family of big wave riders was special.”
