It was a big day for Portgual surfing, as Portugal’s very own Vasco Ribeiro has taken out the 2014 Allianz ASP World Junior Championship, deafeating Brazil’s Italo Ferreira in a heated final dominated by Ribiero from the start. Ribeiro started off the heat with a 9.00 ride and never looked back, following it up with a 9.63 for the highest heat total of the entire event and putting Ferreira in a combo situation for the duration of the heat. Ribeiro had a busy day of surfing, defeasting Deivid Silva of Brazil in his semifinal, and Costa Rica’s Noe McGonagle in the quarters.
