JJF Cracks ASP Top 5 with Quiksilver Pro Win

By on October 6, 2014

With two events to go on the 2014 ASP World Championship Tour, Hawaii’s John John Florence is on roll that many have seen coming for a long time. Although he’s barely scratched the ASP Top 10, his runner up finish last month in California, and a win this weekend in France has catapulted him into the upper echelon of rankings for the first time in his young career. While many have called JJF the best surfer in the world, the world tour rankings have begged to differ. But not so much anymore now that the toe-headed Hawaiian has cracked the ASP Top 5, a place we’re sure he’ll stay as long as he wants. With so much hype on the Slater/Medina battle, JJF competed under the radar and without the pressure of being in contention for a world title. We’re sure he’ll take that momentum into Portugal and of course into the last event of the year in Hawaii where, if things continue to go his way, he could very well crack the ASP Top 3 setting him up for a whirlwind run at the world title in 2015.
