Shaun White + Rose Bowl = Snowboarding?

By on October 22, 2014

It’s the last place on earth you’d expect to see the Olympic Gold Medalist snowboarding, but that’s Shaun White for you. The most decorated athlete in snowboarding history will bring a Snow and Style event to Pasadena’s Rose Bowl in early 2015. Sounds odd, right? Well, it is, considering the Rose Bowl is more fit for football and flea markets than it is to host a world class snowboarding event. But when you’re Shaun White, you can make things happen. Like trucking in a million pounds of snow.

In addition to snow and all that snowy stuff, there will be live art and plenty of live music. Consider it more like an X-Games meets Woodstock type of event. Everyone knows the Rose Bowl is a huge venue, and that the Rose Bowl can sell out the stadium no worries, but will people come to this? Too early to tell. And considering the drought we’ve been experiencing here in So Cal, it’s only a matter of time before someone chimes in to protest the event. While it won’t be a waste of talent, it will surely be a waste of water.
